Finally there is a break in the weather and all in good time for this Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The ferry's are up and running again to the Aran Islands from Doolin pier ( always a sign that summer is on its way)! Nice to see Claire Garrihy from Doolin2Aran Ferries back in action for the season ahead.

My first customer of the day was a lovely  man who had visited me this time last year to purchase a gift for his wife. He was returning to say hello and buy a matching pair of earrings to add to what he calls her "vast collection" His love for Doolin brings him here annually as he appreciates the surrounding beauty of the area and in particular the solitude that one can experience at this time of the year before the masses arrive. I suggested he coincide his visit next year with the wonderful Writer's Week which takes place in Hotel Doolin. Its always a pleasure to see a familiar face come into my shop.

What a wonderful treat it was this weekend up at the Doolin Writers Weekend. There was plenty of nourishment for the soul with Poetry readings, writing workshops and Hanne Fiskers' "Storm and Still" Photograpy exhibition.

My favourite event was the Poetry reading in the Marquee on Saturday afternoon and in particular listening to Jean Kavanagh, Eleanor Hooker and Dave Lordon read from their published works.

A big thumbs up also to Stephen Murray who stole the show on Saturday evening with his refreshing direction to which he takes his poetry to.

Once again it is that time of year when I reopen my doors again of my shop in Doolin. All visitors to Doolin clearly welcome to come and take a peek inside at all the wonderful Celtic Jewellery. The opening corresponds to the Doolin Writers' Weekend which runs form 27th to 29th March.

Best of luck to Hotel Doolin General Manager Dónal Minihane who is launching his debut novel Clíona's Wave at the opening night of Doolin Writers' Weekend. I am just about to head up that way now for the opening drinks reception.!

Well its only one week away until Christmas comes to Doolin and preparations are well underway.

The weather has been blustery and the outdoor Christmas Trees which were erected by  tidy Towns have been transformed into "dancing Christmas Trees" as the wild winds coming in from the Atlantic are forcing them to do Jigs n Reels. Its a pleasure to watch their coloured lights shift and sway in this way and befitting the town which plays host to a strong traditional music setting..
